Havia sido informado também que em 2012 ele já mantinha um projeto em Kuma Tokpli com 25 computadores comuns doados e 75% dos professores nunca haviam utilizado um computador.
O novo laboratório, também em Kuma Adamé, foi construído reaproveitando um velho banheiro do local.
Algumas paredes foram derrubadas, novas janelas foram colocadas e paredes pintadas.
A parte elétrica, rede, mesas, foram feitas com ajuda de Seth, professores e estudantes. Em 4 semanas colocaram o local para funcionar pronto para o treinamento dos 25 professores.
O local é composto por 21 Raspberry Pi's Versão 2. Um deles é para a mesa do professor ligado a um projetor Optoma ML750 LED e os 20 restantes para os alunos.
Há ainda mais 2 notebooks, um ligado a um scanner e outro temporário de testes como um servidor LAMP e SAMBA. É possível ver inclusive o switch com os cabos na foto abaixo.
Os equipamentos são protegidos contra quedas de energia por um UPS da APC.
Todas as máquinas rodam o Ubuntu MATE.
Dominique afirma no fórum estar convencido que o modelo de laboratórios com Raspberry Pi é a solução ideal para países em desenvolvimento com recursos escassos.
Sua meta atual é arrecadar fundos suficientes para criação de uma sala dessas por ano. Ele espera que outras comunidades queiram copiar o modelo e construir seus próprios laboratórios.
O Raspberry Pi foi um divisor de águas para esse tipo de implementação com seu baixo custo. Embora seu primeiro projeto tenha sido com computadores comuns doados é inegável a vantagem do baixo consumo de um computador como o Raspberry Pi para locais como esses.
